Programming Fundamentals

This chapter is intended for programmers without any programming experience or much experience using RAD tools such as Microsoft® Visual Basic® or Borland Delphi™. The HB++ Language section is an introduction to programming and is followed by the application structure section that describes the fundamental concepts of programming: creating forms and controls, and handling events.

It is important to remember that programming a handheld device requires a different philosophy and follows different rules from developing applications for a desktop computer. The Palm OS® Programming section underlines these differences and offers useful advice. If you have not developed on a Palm OS® handheld before, reading this section is strongly recommended.
